Who doesn’t like old-school ‘blip blop’ game music!?

I just found a VST plugin synth that emulates the old Commodore 64 (the famous SID chip) and started making tunes in the old style, just for fun. Check ‘em out here: http://www.kebawe.com/an/retro/
What’s so fun about making this kind of music is that you don’t have to think about sound quality (cause there isn’t any) or the usual production stuff (no effects at all)…all you have to do is compose catchy little tunes with nice voicings. That’s all you can do really - put together as nice harmonies as you can with the few voices you have. And you get to make music that would be extremely silly in any other context (although in Japan pop music sounds exactly like this ![]()
